What We Do

Are you a church, bible study group, or Sunday school class looking to study biblical evangelism and have a desire to step up and step out to spread the gospel? Do you feel as though you don’t know what to say when sharing your faith with others? Do you feel scared to talk about Christ to family, friends, or even total strangers?

Started in 2007, “Hearts For The Lost” is an interdenominational ministry whose purpose is to promote study in biblical evangelism using principles found in scripture, and equip believers to practically and biblically proclaim the gospel. The ministry provides instruction using presentations, video examples, publications, question & answer sessions, and in-the-field training. Their seminars, titled “Stepping Up and Stepping Out”, not only teach the flock in biblical principles for evangelism, but also provide opportunity for believers to witness these principles in action, and even participate, by “stepping out” to local communities and sharing the gospel. This ministry seeks to show believers that evangelism is something that any believer can do practically, just like reading the Bible or praying. Their goal is to strengthen a believer’s boldness to participate in the great commission: to proclaim the everlasting good news of Jesus Christ. As a teaching ministry that teaches the importance of actually breaking out of one’s comfort zone to step up and share the gospel, Hearts For The Lost also shows believers why it is important to study passages in scripture such as Galatians 3:24-25 so that the gospel is presented in a manner that speaks to the conscience, just as Jesus spoke to the rich young ruler in Luke 18:18-23. Hearts For The Lost believes Jesus was the master evangelist, and desires that believers search scripture and learn from the example Jesus gave.

They believe this message is so important to the Church today, that they offer their seminars FREE of charge. They pay for any mobilization fees and all travel expenses, so that churches can get this message to their flocks quickly and effectively, and are willing to offer their services free to any church within the United States. They have currently conducted seminars in South Carolina, Florida, Virginia, and New Hampshire. They believe that through their obedience, God will supply their needs, and testify that He certainly has.

Hearts For The Lost also provide and use material from Living Waters ministries (www.livingwaters.com) and Way Of The Master ministries (www.wayofthemaster.com) Their seminar closely resembles the free “Transformed” conferences held by Way Of The Master each year.

The Hearts For The Lost team members are all part of different churches and live in different cities. The ministry was founded by David Martin, and co-founded by Matt Watson. Other key members of the ministry include Steve Reeves, Scotty Logue, and Greg Moss. These men realized that there are many in the church today who think they are saved, but who are like they once were: tares among wheat who think their good works are going to save them, but will only hear the words “Depart from me, I never knew you” on the day of judgment. They then formed Hearts For The Lost, not only to teach believers in biblical evangelism, but also to reach out to people in the church who are false converts. They desire to hold seminars regularly as the Lord leads, and remain faithful to spreading the gospel daily both through their seminars and in personal evangelism.

Mission Statement

“Hearts for the Lost” is an interdenominational ministry whose purpose is to educate God’s people in “The Way of the Master.” We believe and preach that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, and that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, crucified for the sin of the world, and that He rose again on the third day. We believe and teach that salvation is by grace, through faith, and not of works. We believe that baptism is not a means of or way to salvation, but rather an act of obedience in faith. We believe that Christ commands us to go into the world to seek and save the lost by following the Great Commission while obeying the Greatest Commandment. Our goal is to provide instruction via presentations, various media, publications, and “in the field” training. We desire for every Christian to have the tools needed to practically and biblically proclaim the everlasting good news of Jesus Christ

 Meet the Guys:

David Martin - Founder HFTL
David lives in Elgin, South Carolina with his wife Kim and children Brooke (10) and Dylan (9).  David has worked for Boyd Management for 18 years.  David realized he was a false convert after listening to Ray Comfort’s “Hell’s Best Kept Secret/True and False Conversion”.  He realized he never had a true sense of gratitude for what Christ had done for him.  Now all he wants to do is serve his King by being obedient and sharing the Gospel anywhere he can.

Matt Watson - Co-founder HFTL
Matt lives in West Columbia, SC with his wife Coie.  He has been a Christian since April, 2001 when God revealed to him that there was nothing he could do to save himself from sin.  His passion for witnessing to others was immediate, however he was never sure how to talk to others about the gospel or the Bible.  Through guidance from the Holy Spirit, study of Scriptures, and becoming familiar with Living Waters & The Way of the Master ministries, Matt has been seeking to diligently present the gospel in a Biblical manner whenever the opportunity arises.  He is also very passionate about equipping other believers with Biblical principles when it comes to evangelism.  Matt is a member of Covenant Baptist Church in West Columbia, SC (http://www.covenantbaptistsc.org/)

Scotty Logue
Scotty lives in Burkeville, VA. with his wife and 6 children, (5 boys & 1 girl).   He
surrendered his life to Christ on Feb. 14th 1993 at the age of 21.  In addition to his passion for evangelism, he enjoys hiking and canoeing and anything involving the outdoors. He has been the Youth & Family Pastor at New Covenant Fellowship church, www.newcovfellowship.com,
in Nottoway county for 13 years and is currently employed full time with the state of Virginia as the IT Director for a maximum security treatment facility.

Steve Reeves
Steve currently lives in Gilbert, South Carolina with his wife Deborah and children Jackson (7) and Abigail (2 1/2).  In July, 2007 Steve, a former deacon and active worship leader, realized he was a tare among wheat and a false convert.  After listening to the call of the Holy Spirit Steve was saved through true, Biblical repentance and has since been on fire to evangelize the good news of Jesus Christ.  Since then Steve has also felt the calling to preach the Gospel and is actively preaching from time to time in his home church, Convent Baptist Church (www.conventbaptist.com) in Leesville, SC and any other opportunity he is given to serve God through preaching or street evangelism.

Greg Moss
Greg lives in Fairview, S.C. with his wife Shari. Greg has a Masters degree in Management and a Bachelors degree in Engineering and enjoys studying and teaching theology and doctrine. Currently Greg works as a field service technician repairing electro-mechanical equipment. In 2005 God removed Greg from the strenuous engineering and management fields in Indiana and relocated him to his current job in South Carolina. Not only did God change Greg's occupation but also changed his heart. For many years Greg considered himself to be a Christian, even serving 7 years as Chairman of the administrative board of his church. However, if asked Greg could not explain what it meant to be a real Christian. While driving one day, Greg heard Todd Friel from Wretched Radio witnessing to someone on the air and became soundly convicted within his heart, repented of his sin and began a new life in Christ.
